Okay, it doesn’t keep him away. BUT, laughter is one of the best tools in your arsenal against him and his repeated attacks. That’s right. When the devil attacks you, laugh.
Seriously.
Out loud.
It robs the enemy of his power to hurt or frighten you.
The enemy has one goal when it comes to believers: keep you off your game. If you’re on your path then you are a mighty light for God in this world. You can be helping people without even knowing it just by showing up and reflecting God’s light.
Imagine that!
When others see the light of God in us, they want to understand it and have that light, too.

Well, when we’re stressed, depressed, anxiety-ridden, fearful, angry, and every other dark emotion, we are not reflecting the light as well as we should. Satan is winning.
The devil and his minions attack in many ways. The quickest and easiest ways are usually what they choose. If there’s a way to get you upset, panicked, or distracted inside of five seconds, they’ll go for it. After all, why waste more effort if they don’t have to? They’ve got lots of people to torment, harass, and stop.
When you laugh, you literally change the chemicals flowing in your brain. In fact, a fake laugh is almost as effective as a real laugh in this area. It helps put you in a more positive, upbeat frame of mind. It also helps scary things seem less scary. Don’t believe me? There’s a ton of fiction (and science!) devoted to this very phenomenon. Check it out.
When you laugh in the face of a demonic attack it’s your verbal affirmation that this is not going to stop you and that you aren’t going to be beaten by the things that Christ has already defeated for you.
So, fake the laugh if you have to. Eventually it will become real. When this type of attack no longer bothers you like it once did it will happen less and less frequently. Now that’s something to smile (and laugh) about!
